the refinement project.

Autumn 2025.

I make garments, travel itineraries and food.

— and I get better at all three by reflecting on what worked, what didn’t, and what I’d do differently next time.

I use journalling to track lessons learned and connect what I’m making and where I’m going with the seasons. It helps me remember more, notice more, and keep improving.

Here, I write about that.

Travel

I like to dream, plan, and go. I take real satisfaction in shaping itineraries that fit — not just on paper, but in mood, season, and experience. I look for a balance of good rides, craft, design, and local culture.

My rule is simple: a plan beats no plan. But a good plan leaves space to improvise.

Strategy with a touch of serendipity — enough structure to guide, enough freedom to discover.

Dressmaking

I sew clothes from vintage patterns with a precise fit and a touch of the unexpected. My goal is to master couture for a petite frame.

I share what works and what doesn’t — from fabric choices, to fit challenges, to the satisfaction of a technique nailed.

My reflections are based on time spent sewing, testing wearability, and finding efficient ways to vary each pattern.

Eat

Cooking and baking are simpler for me — less technical than sewing, less complex than travel — but just as rewarding. They bring daily joy and keep me in step with the seasons.

I cook with an eye on provenance, flexible swaps, scaled ratios, and the logic behind each technique. I like knowing why things work.

Flavours from places I’ve visited often find their way in. It’s a quiet way to revisit a trip, reflect on what I’ve learned.

Refining.

Noticing nuance and details improves my making.

Repeating a process teaches me important lessons about subtle variation and refinement.
